Collection: Sketches for Enjoying the Work by George N. Wallace

These sketches were published in the book Enjoying the Work by George N Wallace.

George originally went to my father as a potential illustrator for his collection on poems. Carl is the consummate workaholic who, per usual, had too much on his plate at the time and "no but my daughter's a sketcher." George must have found something in my work up to snuff because he soon put me to work sketching from photo references he felt suited the narrative he was weaving. It was all quite challenging for me and I had some of what I feel were my most notable breakthroughs working on those sketches.

This initial collaboration with George was something that inspired me to  do the work required for the Covid-19 fundraiser in 2020, namely to sketch from images that were meaningful to them. (What a leap of faith! To put something beloved into the hands of another to create an artistic representation that may or may not come out as anticipated.) It's important for me to also note that I am disinterested in creating for my own financial gain. I do, however, get passionate about using my art to further the causes of others. So, doing the illustration work for George certainly paved the way for much of the work I do these days. And I sure am enjoying the work! ☺☺☺
